One of These Days I'm Gonna Rise Up Singing, Spread My Wings and Take to the Sky...

Summertime, and the living is easy
Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high
Your Daddy's rich and your Ma's good-lookin'
So hush little baby, don't you cry....

In case you wondered what season it is here in the Middle East, we're on the cusp between boiling and boiling over. It's a hot one, not made any less sticky and uncomfortable by having to intercept a Flotilla of armed insurgents bound for Gaza and the International Media out-roar which has followed - fueling itself with it's own malevolent by-blows and the energy created by perpetrating The Big Lie.

But I digress! What does this have to do with music? EVERYTHING. Music can tell the truth when lies abound all around us. Music can cut through the bullshit and get right to the point without a lot of posturing.

Tonight's Musical Schedule:
  • 6pm - Smokey Robinson and The Miracles Greatest Hits. This music will make you feel so cool and Lord knows we need to cool down here in Jerusalem, it's hot hot hot!!!
  • 7:30pm - Creedence Clearwater Revival 1969 Green River (40th Anniversary Edition, remastered) more hot / cool music from the Bayou where they really know how to sweat!
  • 8:30pm - Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong's immortal Porgy and Bess! What a treat for our listeners! If anything can evoke a sultry summer night it's this recording!
  • 9:45pm - Jeff Beck Emotion & Commotion (2010) - warm but not fuzzy!
  • 10:30pm - Grateful Dead Madison Square Garden (9/16/90) - always the coolest
