That Deaf, Dumb & Blind Kid ...

We've been on the air since Rosh Chodesh Kislev 5770 (the end of November 2009) and by now you should start to get how we think. So it shouldn't surprise you that today, being both the anniversary of Helen Keller's birth and The Who's original bassist John "The Ox" Entwhistle's death, we're playing TOMMY - The Who's first (and some say best) rock opera.

Yes that deaf, dumb and blind kid DOES play a mean pinball - but he couldn't have become that good without Helen Keller having gone before him. What American schoolkid grew up without learning about Helen Keller's struggle to escape the darkness of her bind and deaf world and burst upon the world with her brilliant mind?

Who among us now, even in these days, doesn't struggle to escape our own blindness and emerge from our own darkness? We have eyes but we do not see, we have ears but we do not hear - how many of us are deaf dumb and blind to the suffering around us, even with "working" eyes, ears and tongues? May He Who created our organs of sight and sound grant us illumination on every level - Selah, Amen!
