You Can Leave Your Mask On - for now, but get ready for Purim because IT'S COMIN' OFF!

Adar continues and with it the theme of Concealment / Revelation. What masks do we wear every day, when do we discard them? How often do we allow others to see beneath our carefully crafted surfaces? Do you wear your "Game Face" when you venture into the Outside World, do you allow vulnerability to peek through occasionally? Be assured, dear friends and fans, that Purim is Coming, Purim is Coming - and with it, masks will be ripped aside and aspects of your Real Self WILL be revealed, whether you want them to or not - it's just the phenomenon of the Time.
We're continuing to bring you special Purim-themed Torahs as well as music that reflects the sense of illusion / dis-illusion, distortion and refraction, concealed truths and revealed angst that goes into making Adar the very special month that it is. We at Radio Free Nachlaot give you a blessing (and please bless us back!) that during Adar we should see ourselves for who and what we really are, and have the courage and integrity to own our own "stuff" - and DEAL with it, preferably before it becomes toxic to ourselves and others - and that we should always find the "Nekudot Tovot" (good points) within ourselves as well as within those around us.

Today's Torah Schedule:
  • 1pm, 5:45pm - Rabbi Betzalel Phillip Edwards' series on The Chevrya (Part 5) Continues.
  • 3:30pm, 6:30pm, 9:45pm - Rabbi Chaim Richman's Parsha Shavua - Terumah - debuts
  • 4:15pm - Rabbi Chaim Richman's Purim Special
  • 6:30pm - Rabbi Mendel Kaplan's "Holiday Basics - Purim"

Today's Music Schedule:
  • 8am - 1pm - Lorelai's "Morning Dew for the Morning Jew" Show - Zepplin, Stones, Tina Turner, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Tony Bennett, Tracie Chapman, The Who, Janis Joplin, Laura Nyro - just a few of the many artists being played around the theme of "Inner and Outer Masks." OK, it's subtle, but Lorelai expects a lot from her audience.
  • 1pm - 6pm: "Israeli Soul" Afternoon features music from Sasha Rose, HaBanot Nechama, Sasson, Benzion Eliyahu Lehrer, Ehud Banai and Raz Hartman.
  • 6pm - Ben Bresky's "The Beat" (by special permission) featuring Ron Wiseman (pictured), an Olah Chadash (new immigrant), Bal Tshuva who makes great Jewish Reggae music. Be sure to listen!
  • 7pm - The Doors "Waiting for the Sun" Album - followed by Lucinda Williams' "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road" Album. Why? To "compare and contrast" - Jim Morrison and Lucinda Williams - polar opposites or, weirdly, separated at birth into opposite genres? :)
  • 8:30pm - l'kavod Canada (the host country of the 2010 Winter Olympics) - Neil Young "The Complete Joel Berenson Tapes" (thanks Harvey Milstein!) - too good to miss!
  • 9:50pm - Jethro Tull "Thick as a Brick" - 25th Anniversary Edition. Wow!
  • 10:30pm - The Boss! Bruce Springsteen Live at Hammersmith Odeon, London (1975) - you won't be able to sleep after this album so plan on staying up all night listening to Radio Free Nachlaot - The Boss would want it that way!
