Yom HaZicharon - Don't Forget to Remember

The biggest annual mood-swing week us upon us here in Israel. Today is Yom HaZicharon, the day we remember those we lost to war and terrorism in Israel. Immediately after this somber day ends, we burst into joyous celebration of Yom HaAtzmaout - Israeli Independence Day. No other Nation owes so much to those who gave their lives in defense of our country in the various branches of the armed services - and those who were simply at the wrong place at the wrong time, becoming victims of terrorist attacks. There is no Israeli who hasn't lost someone dear to them. Brothers and sisters,parents and children, colleagues and lovers and friends ... there is no life unaffected by war here in the Holy Land.
