Overcoming A Horror Unimaginable with A Love Supreme

Yom HaZicharon HaShoah - Holocaust Remembrance Day - continues and we're playing music, Torah and special features which reflect some of the aspects of the Shoah - songs of destruction, redemption, pain, suffering, rebirth and hope.

Last night during our "Sunday Night Live" Show, Rena Levine said something very wise, which was to always try to remember to tell stories about how people helped each other during the Holocaust, and not to allow ourselves to become overcome by the darkness.

Pictured here is Hannah Szenes, the Hungarian Partisan fighter who parachuted into Nazi-occupied Europe to try to save the Jews of Hungary and Yugoslavia who were being deported to the Death Camps. She was captured and executed by the Nazis, but left behind poetry, songs ("Eli, Eli") and most importantly, a spirit of love for life and for the Jewish People that was never extinguished, even in the darkest places.

Blessed is the match consumed in kindling flame.
Blessed is the flame that burns in the secret fastness of the heart.
Blessed is the heart with strength to stop its beating for honor's sake.
Blessed is the match consumed in kindling flame.

Friends - let us remember to love and help each other, even in the face of this gathering darkness that sometimes seems overwhelming. Today also marks the day in Jewish History that the Walls of Jericho went a-tumblin' down. How did that happen? 7 days of marching, prayer, faith and, in the end, synchronized sound waves. That's where we come in. Let's march together, pray together, encourage each others faith and, in the end, make a joyful sound of triumph and victory in the face of all impossibility - overcoming a horror unimaginable with a Love Supreme.
