It's Rosh Chodesh Av, the beginning of The 9 Days - that period of time on the Jewish calendar when we turn inward for extreme introspection.
From Rosh Chodesh Av until Tisha b'Av, the Jewish People undergo a 9 day period of acute mourning for the loss of the Holy Temple. We do this every year, and one of the ways we experience this acute mourning is restricting ourselves from hearing music.
As we do every year on Radio Free Nachlaot, we're preparing to do our annual switch-over
from 24/6 music, talk & Torah to all-Torah programming during the 9
Days on Radio Free Nachlaot.
This is the most challenging programming time of year for us, but it's
our 5th consecutive year doing it this way so we've sort of established a
rhythm.
We'll be in our all-Torah programming mode from 8pm Jerusalem time on Sunday July 27th until 1pm Jerusalem
time on Wednesday, August 6th (10th of Av) when we'll start off with the
ultimate bang - the 5th Annual 9 DAYS OF JERRY - until then, hang on and we'll get through this together!
Streaming the best music, talk and Torah 24/6 from an undisclosed location, deep inside Nachlaot - Jerusalem's coolest neighborhood - to the World!
